Why is my TV screen blue?

  1. Try turning the VCR/DVD player off.
  2. Make sure TV is tuned to channel 3.
  3. If you tune through your VCR-make sure the VCR is tuned to channel 3.

Why is my TV screen black?

  1. Check all wiring connections to the television, VCR and DVD.
  2. Make sure you are tuned to a channel that is currently broadcasting.
  3. If you have a converter box, make sure the power is on.

Why is my TV screen snowy?

  1. Check the other televisions in your home.
  2. If this is the only set that has a gray snowy screen, check to see if the cable wire is attached to the back of the television, converter box, or VCR/DVD etc.
  3. If all the sets in the home look like this, the cable may be in need of repair. Please call your local Service Electric office for service.

Why do I only get channels 2-13

    1. Most commonly this is because the television is set to receive "antenna" signal instead of "cable" signal.
    2. This setting is usually found on a switch on the television set, or in the menu screen of the television (use the television set remote control to find this option).
    3. After this is corrected, you may need to run the "auto programming" option on your television menu.

Why can I only see up to channel 45?

    1. Older television sets were made to accommodate a certain quantity of channels. Cable television now has hundreds of channels.
    2. If your television does not allow you to tune in to a higher channel number, you can rent a converter box from Service Electric which will allow you to tune in any of the channels we offer in your area.
    3. Call your local office to hear about these options.

Why does my Digital Converter say "One Moment Please?"

    1. Make sure the cable line is connected tightly on the back of your converter box and at the wall outlet. Try unplugging the power cord on the back of the converter for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If you still cannot get a picture, please contact us.

Why am I hearing no audio at all on any channel?

    1. If you are using a digital converter, try pressing "Mute" on the digital converter remote to be sure it is not muted. Also check to make sure the volume on the converter box is not all the way down. If you are not using a converter box or you already checked your converter box, check to make sure your TV is not muted or in another audio mode such as "SAP". Check your TV volume as well. Consult your TV instruction manual for further assistance with your TV or contact us for further assistance with your converter box.

Why do I see a big black box/words scrolling at the bottom of my screen?

    1. Turn off Closed Captioning. This is typically found in your TV settings. Look for a "Settings" or "Menu" button on your TV remote. Consult your TV instruction manual for further assistance.

I have a Digital Converter. Why is my TV making a hissing sound?

    1. Try turning the volume of your TV down and the volume of your digital converter up.

Why do I see a purple and green hue on my TV set?

  1. If you have un-shielded speakers too close to your TV, the magnetic field from the speakers will distort the geometry and colors of your TV. This may cause permanent damage to your TV set and it is recommended that you move your speakers further away from your TV or use magnetically shielded speakers.

I have a Digital Converter, why do I constantly see "pixels," "tiling" or "little squares" at the bottom of my screen?

    1. Make sure the cable line is connected tightly on the back of your converter box and at the wall outlet. If that does not solve the problem, Please contact us.

I have a Digital Converter. Why does my TV Guide say "To Be Announced" on every channel?

    1. If you have recently lost power or unplugged your converter, this will happen. It may take a few hours to load TV Guide data. Otherwise try unplugging your converter box for 10 seconds and plugging it back in to re-start the TV Guide download process.

I have a high-definition or a DVR converter. Why can't I adjust the volume on the converter?

    1. If you have the converter attached to your TV using a HDMI cable, you can only adjust your volume on the TV. If you are not using an HDMI cable, press the "Cable" button on the top of your converter remote and then try adjusting the volume.

Why can't I change the channels on my Digital Converter?

    1. Try pressing the "Cable" button on the top of your converter remote and then change channels. If this does not work try new batteries in your converter remote. Otherwise you may need a replacement remote from us.
